The title of this book should be a giveaway to the contents. This is the 76 page comicbook adaptation of the new 'Superman Returns' film with all the actors likenesses being used in their respective parts.

As I've read the strip before seeing the film, it would be impossible to compare the two at this time. There are a couple places where I could raise question marks about plot logic but I think that really should be laid at the film's door than here. Certainly, if you want a pictorial version of the film before the DVD release, then this is a good choice of book to have.

Superman returns to Earth after being away for five years seeking out the remains of his home planet for survivors, finding he has to raise his credibility and Lois Lane has both a child and is engaged. Its only much later that he discovers Lex Luthor has stolen from his Antarctic Fortress of Solitude - about time you got a key for that place, Supes.

For those less acquainted with Superman, there are five other stories, mostly taken from the recent years. These are, if anything, more character studies although I think it will confuse the non-comicbook reader seeing Mr and Mrs Superman and Luthor playing mind games for Lois' affections. Apart from an origin story, most of the action is depicted showing Superman doing good deeds than battles. Whether this is to off-set against the main story or examples to fit the page count will have to be left to the individual.

If you have the habit of picking up comicbook adaptations of films then you'll be already adding this one to your list. On squarebound good quality paper, it's also likely to stand the wear of time on your bookshelf.
