Hungary's Supreme Court has banned state-owned TV station MTV - nothing to do with the too hip for their own good music channel - from showing the paranoia and paranormal mystery programme, the X-files, before 11pm.

Why the late night exile? Good question.

Contrary to web rumours, it isn't because they have heard that foolish Chris Carter chappie has been threatening to reveal the fact that Hungary has been sitting on a segment of a crashed alien vehicle since 1917 (which some UFOlogists think is the escape pod from the Siberian meteor strike) in a forthcoming episode of the TV series.

And it isn't because Agent Scully has been distracting drivers on the old state highway and causing pile-ups, where trailers of the series have been shown on the new video billboards which have been going up.

No. Both of these might be valid reasons for Hungary's ban on the X-Files. But the actual reason for their decision - at least the one they chose to give - was because the Court said it harmed children's mental health.

Hmmm.

Is there some conspiracy here?

Is the recent UN-backed development loan the World Bank made to Hungary something to do with this decision?

Mulder and Scully, where are you when we need you? (gee, I guess they're around after 11pm. Ed).
