Major
U.S science fiction book publisher pooch-screwed
News from the
States leads us to believe the death spiral of SF print publishing
is still continuing apace.
And boy, what
a pace.
HarperPrism,
the science fiction & fantasy imprint is cutting its launch schedule
from around 80 titles a year, to somewhere around the 40s.
Another nail
goes into the coffin of printed US literacy for all us book fans.
Come on HarperPrism,
you can't cost cut your way out of this one.
Here's a novel
idea for you ink-steeped business heads. Try growing your revenues
and investing in new talent. Duh.
Looking on
the bright side though, the internet population is now sitting at
around 300 million, and you can always submit your short fiction
for publication by us.
We've been
expanding since 1996, as has our visitor count!
Happily, ever
was it thus. Ed.
